Owned by the Sisters of the Holy Names, this 12,000 sf new building is part of the beautiful 75-acre Mary’s Woods campus, a high-end continuing care retirement community. Marylhurst College is an immediate neighbor. The Center was designed as the archive building for the Sisters, and was created to document, preserve and exhibit that history, while planning for future interfaith and community networking of the growing collection which highlights the history and achievements of faith-based communities in the Northwest. The SHC is a gathering place; it creates a variety of welcoming venues for activities, including a generous lobby, meeting room, library and spectacular new garden.
Our team provided the interior finishes and furniture selection for the project. Sustainable finishes were used throughout and C&E worked with local furniture manufacturers to produce the lobby lounge chairs and library tables. The design intent for the building was to take its cue from the historic Convent building, the center of the campus, and translate it in a contemporary way.
