942 Olive Street – Innovation Hub

Eugene, OR

A major seismic and interior renovation to the 1908 warehouse transformed the University-owned building into downtown Eugene’s new entrepreneurial hub. The 12,690 sf building now serves as an innovation center with an emphasis on environmental sustainability that brings together 3 programs; RAIN Eugene (business incubator and accelerator), The Tyler Invention Greenhouse (green chemistry and green nanoscience research offices), and The Product Design Launch Lab (design studio for University of Oregon’s Product Design program), to share meeting and event spaces with local entrepreneurs. CZ|DS worked closely with stakeholders from each program to create a collective vision for the space that embraced the industrial nature of the building and respected the extremely limited construction budget, most of which was allocated toward necessary seismic upgrades.
